Spring is blooming once again, and I feel like my studio also is blossoming right now, thanks to my lovely, funny, and smart assistants and interns that help me with most everything. I would like to introduce you to my super-team—Nerissa, Rebecca, Malin, and Yohey—who will be sharing our world with you in the months to come, here in the ledger and on Facebook and Twitter. I hope that you will have as much fun with them as I do.
Hello! My name is Rebecca, and I’m so happy to introduce myself to all of you—the fans and friends of Lotta.
I’ve been following and collecting Lotta’s work for many years, so I was thrilled when she asked me to be a part of her world, at her Brooklyn shop and online. Outside the studio, I help authors and publishers make beautiful books of all kinds—from cooking, art, and design to craft. I hope that you’ll come visit us in Brooklyn.
And if you haven’t yet signed up for her newsletter, please do! It’s a great way to stay up-to-date with goings-on here at the “urban barn,” as well as receive advance notice of sales, giveaways, and workshop availability.
Most important, I’d love to hear from you about the kind of features you’d most like to read in Lotta’s ledger. You can find me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hi everyone! My name is Nerissa, and I am the studio manager here at Lotta Jansdotter. I have been working with the lovely Lotta since 2006, right after she moved to New York. I come from a land Down Under (yes, I am singing that Men at Work song in my head right now . . .) and have lived in NY since 2001. I came over for a one-year jazz-singing pilgrimage, which somehow turned into a permanent stay. (I met my man here!)
As well as singing, I love cooking (and blogging about it), yoga, drawing, making things, and traveling. I am really nostalgic and love mixing the new with the old—and I have a huge and coveted piece of Lotta’s Asko fabric (her first-ever pattern) on my vintage turn-of-the-century sofa to prove it!
Hi! I’m Malin, a 24-year-old textile design student from Finland. This February I packed my suitcase (actually, there were three), grabbed my dog, Freddy, and flew to New York for an internship with Lotta. Working with Lotta is a blast, and we can speak our secret language, Swedish, whenever we like.
Living in New York is exciting, and all the smells, impressions, and random encounters turn into a beautiful mess in my head—and makes me unable to sleep more than about five hours a night. That’s OK, though, because I love the tiny squares of Pantone swatches scattered around the office, the smell of coffee in the morning, and sunny breakfasts on my roof (everything breakfast-related, really).
Konnichiwa, y’all! My name is Yohey! I’ve been working at Lotta’s studio since last October. I’m originally from Japan but moved to Alabama and then Georgia, before landing here in New York City. Such a wondrous journey, isn’t it? I graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a focus on illustration, so basically I happily put my life in this creative industry!
New York City is nothing like where I come from—the endless rice paddies, energetic volcanoes, rushing rivers, and “y’all.” I’m still a Southern gentleman though! Anyway, I heart coffee, I heart linen, and I heart Lotta!
